It was announced on August 23 via Chip Ganassi Racing’s social media outlets Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet, will honor his sponsor by carrying the same paint scheme used during Target’s first auto racing start as their Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway throwback on Sep 4.
Notably, Target’s first race was not in NASCAR, but rather IndyCar in 1990. The bullseye placed on the roof of Larson’s car will be a shout out to both Chip Ganassi Racing’s relationship with Target as well as CGR’s IndyCar Racing roots.
The Southern 500 will also be a special race for Larson as he will be making his 100th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Start.
