Erik Jones picked up right where he left off in second practice by being quickest, thereby winning both NASCAR XFINITY Series practice sessions at Kentucky Speedway. Jones led the way with a quick lap of 29.720. His lap was nearly two and a half tenths of a second quicker than Matt Tifft in second with a 29.958.
Sam Hornish, Jr. was again third in practice, while Austin Cindric in the No. 22 was fourth fastest. Cindric was practicing the No. 22 since Ryan Blaney, who will race the car, was at New Hampshire Motor Speedway qualifying his Sprint Cup Series car.
The remaining six spots in the top-10 were all filled by XFINITY Series Chase drivers. Daniel Suarez was fifth followed by Brendan Gaughan, Brandon Jones, Ty Dillon, Justin Allgaier and Darrell Wallace, Jr.
The other Chase drivers in the field were scattered throughout the top-20. Elliott Sadler was 12th, with Ryan Reed 13th, Brennan Poole 16th, Ryan Sieg 17th and Blake Koch in 19th.
