Jason McCoy to sing National Anthem at Sunset Speedway on Saturday

Sunset Speedway officials announced that Canadian Country Singer Jason McCoy will be singing the national anthem before the racing starts on Saturday September 28^th for the Velocity 250 event.

The 2001 Male Vocalist of the Year at the Canadian Country Music Awards is well known for his music, with his first album coming out in 1999. His latest album titled Everything came out March 1, 2011. Some of his latest hit songs include Meet Me Under the Mistletoe and I’d Still Have Everything.

He is also one of the three members behind the band The Road Hammers, which was formed by McCoy in 2005. Their last album was released in February of 2009 and includes the hits I’ve Got the Scars to Prove It and Goodbye Dust. The group separated in 2010, though recently announced that they will be getting back together this fall to release another album.

As part of the promotion of the group, seven-time Late Model Champion Chris Morrow will carry The Road Hammers on the hood of his No. 11 Morrow Electric/CRS Rental Late Model this weekend at the Velocity 250. Morrow will be one of the many Late Model drivers vying for the top spot at the end of the 75 lap feature.

Saturday marks Day 1 for the Velocity 250 special, which will feature eight divisions in total.

On Saturday, the Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks and OSCAAR Modifieds will run their qualifying heats. On the flip side, the Hurricane Midgets, Canadian Vintage Modifieds and Pro Challenge cars will be running their heats, as well as their features to cap off the evening.

The Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks and OSCAAR Modifieds will return on the Sunday to run their last chance races, as well as their main features. They will also be joined by the OSCAAR Super Late Models, running their qualifying heats and 50 lap feature.

The races start at 4pm EST on Saturday with the main gates opening at 2:30 pm EST.
