For just the first time in his short career, Austin Cindric is a NASCAR XFINITY Series pole winner. Cindric will lead the field to the green flag on a Father’s Day event at Iowa Speedway this afternoon.
Cindric, searching for his first career win, beat out the likes of Daniel Hemric and Brandon Jones to take the top spot in group qualifying. Elliott Sadler will start fourth with Cole Custer taking the inside of the third row.
Starting sixth will be Ryan Truex followed by Tyler Reddick, Kaz Grala, debut driver Riley Herbst and Iowa’s own Michael Annett.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Justin Haley is making his debut in the Iowa 250 Presented by Enogen this afternoon. He’s driving the No. 23 Fraternal Order of Eagles Chevrolet for GMS Racing. Haley will start 13th after narrowly missing out on the final round of qualifying by tying both Justin Allgaier and Shane Lee for the final spot. Allgaier won the tiebreaker over Haley and Lee by virtue of owner points.
Starting shotgun on the field in 39th and 40th are a pair of race-winning contenders in Christopher Bell and Ryan Reed. Those two were unable to make an attempt at qualifying after failing pre-qualifying inspection twice.
