With only three and a half hours before the main event of the weekend, the last place a team wants to be is in the INDYCAR paddock doing extensive repairs, but that’s where Jordan King’s Ed Carpenter Racing team finds themselves.
King walled his No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet in the morning warmup prior to the Honda Indy on the Streets of Toronto.
King, the team’s road and street course driver, made contact with the wall coming out of turn eight early in the warmup. The team immediately made their way back to the paddock for repairs.
King was checked and released from the medical centre, and cleared to race. In Saturday’s qualifying session, he qualified his ECR Chevy in the eighth position but will now be forced to the rear of the field for the race.
The Honda Indy in Toronto will go green at 3:35 p.m. ET on Sunday. Scott Dixon, who will start second in the race behind Josef Newgarden, was quickest in warmup.
