While he isn’t racing for the championship tonight at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Grant Enfinger is going for his second win of the year, and he’ll get to do so from the pole position after qualifying first.
Enfinger topped the charts with a fast lap of 31.887 seconds. The Las Vegas winner was followed by Stewart Friesen, who will join him on the front row.
The next two rows are both made up of title contenders, meaning all four drivers in the hunt will be in close quarters to start tonight’s race. Noah Gragson qualified third followed by Justin Haley, Brett Moffitt and Johnny Sauter in sixth.
Starting seventh through 10th will be Ross Chastain, driving a third Niece Motorsports truck, John Hunter Nemechek, Jesse Little and Chris Windom.
The four championship contenders aren’t the only storylines heading into tonight’s Ford Ecoboost 400. Matt Crafton, eliminated from championship contention last weekend, is looking to keep a streak of winning at least one race per season since 2013 alive. He’ll have to do so starting from the 22nd position.
Justin Fontaine, who announced earlier this season that he would retire after this race, will start Homestead from the 31st starting spot.
