Joncos Racing announced that J.V. Horto will drive the No. 86 Programa Leilões car in the Firestone Indy Lights series.
“I am very happy and blessed to be racing this year,” Horto says. “After years of experience and good results, I feel really confident to be moving up to Indy Lights, especially with Juncos Racing. I believe that together we will show that a rookie driver and a new team in the series can reach great results.”
The team made the decision to move up to Indy Lights this season after their success in the Star Mazda Series. The team will be led by Engineer Darrell Soppe and Crew Chief Jimmy Pinkley, who were part of the former Davey Hamilton Racing team.
“I’m so happy to have Joao continue with us as we move into the Firestone Indy Lights Series,” Juncos says. “The support we have received from Joao and his family with our new project will only help make this new team succeed. I also want to thank everyone involved expanding Juncos Racing into the next level, with special thanks to Doc Wagner, all Juncos Racing crew members, Joao and his family, and my wife and son.”
Juncos Racing will still compete in the Star Mazda Series with drivers Martin Scuncio, Connor De Phillippi, Diego Ferreira and Bruno Palli.
