Justin Allgaier, driver of the Turner-Scott Motorsports #31 Brandt Chevrolet lays down a lap of 124.759 mph to pace Nationwide Series qualifying for Saturdays Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. This is Allgaier’s fourth career pole in 145 Nationwide Series starts. Austin Dillon will start second, just missing the top spot by only .045 secs. Justin’s Turner-Scott teammates, Kyle Larson and Nelson Piquet Jr. will start 12th and 19th respectively.
Sam Hornish Jr continues his strong season for Penske Racing with a third place start. Hornish is currently the series points leader with one win already this season coming at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Regan Smith and Elliott Sadler round out the top 5. Jeremy Clements returns to action this week after completing the requirements set forth by NASCAR to end his suspension for making racial slurs earlier this season. Joey Gase withdrew his entry after a practice crash on Friday, stating his team did not have a backup car for this event.
Other notables: Brad Keselowski will start sixth, Kevin Harvick will take the green in seventh with Kyle Busch starting in the 13th spot.
