Barrie Speedway announced that they will be having their 2014 season opener on May 10th instead of May 3rd. Barrie Speedway officials stated that extended cold weather and delayed melting of snow have resulted in the pits grass being really soggy.
Barrie Speedway will begin hosting practices on Saturday May 3rd and through the week leading up to the season opener. Officials released the following schedule:
Saturday May 3rd 12pm-6pm
Sunday May 4th 12pm-6pm
Wednesday May 7th 4pm-8pm
Thursday May 8th 4pm-8pm
Friday May 9th 4pm-8pm
Barrie will then kick off their season opener on May 10th with the Wahta Springs Late Models, Canestoga Sprayers n’ Asphalt Repairs Thunder Cars and St. Onge Recreational Pure Stocks. Gates will open at 5 p.m. EST with racing starting at 6 p.m. EST.
