By: Ashley McCubbin – Unfortunately, the 100 lap Pro Late Model feature did not go as Sean Cronan was hoping after last week’s stellar performance in the Spring Derby 100 as he would finish 13th in the feature.
Cronan kicked off the night in the best way possible, though, as he timed in quickest behind the wheel of his No. 84 The Lockeroom Sports Bar and Grill, McLaren Equipment, Craighurst Auto Pro, Spira Fire Protection and Fox’s Bakery and Deli Late Model. Cronan lapped the 3/8 mile track with a lap of 14.541 seconds, 11-hundreths quicker than second-place qualifier Taylor Holdaway. As top qualifier, Cronan would roll the dice for the invert, rolling a 10 to therefore start 10th.
When the green flag was waved, Cronan would get by Holdaway shortly after to move into ninth before the first caution at lap 13 when a battle for positions fifth through seventh went wrong. All three drivers were sent to the back as involved cars, therefore moving Cronan up to sixth with 87 laps to go.
Cronan then kept himself sixth till lap 27 when the second caution flew for Goetz spinning in turn four virtue of a tap from Powell. The next run, though, would be where handling issues started to show themselves as Cronan fell back to ninth by lap 21, and was 10th as of the caution at lap 54 for debris in turn two. Under the caution, Cronan pitted for some adjustments, restarting 16th.
The adjustments paid off, allowing Cronan to move into 14th by lap 60 and by Cole Powell to move into 13th by lap 70. Cronan then battled hard to try and get to 12th, however wasn’t able to get by Morrow in the closing laps of the feature.
