Mooresville, NC (May 13, 2014) – After a weekend off from racing, the NASCAR Nationwide Series is headed to Iowa Speedway for the Get to Know Newton 250 Presented by Sherwin Williams. Iowa Speedway is considered the “The Fastest Short Track on the Planet” and was designed by NASCAR Hall of Famer, Rusty Wallace.
Eric McClure, No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry
Eric McClure will make his seventh Nationwide Series start at Iowa Speedway this weekend in the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry. McClure has an average starting position of 32.2 and an average finishing position or 23.5. His best finish at the 7/8-mile speedway was last spring where he placed 18th. McClure has over 40 starts in the Nationwide Series at short-tracks where his average starting position is 34.0 and his average finish is 28.4.
Mike Bliss, No. 19 Tweaker Energy Shot Camry
Tweaker Energy Shots will be back on board the No. 19 Toyota Camry, piloted by Mike Bliss, this weekend at Iowa Speedway. This is Tweaker’s second season with TriStar Motorsports and Mike Bliss. During the fall race at Iowa Speedway last year, Bliss and the No. 19 Tweaker Energy Shot Camry qualified 24th and finished the race 18th.
In Bliss’ nine starts at the speedway, he has posted one top-10 finish. He has an average start of 19.5 and an average finish of 16.2. With over 60 starts on short-tracks in the Nationwide Series, Bliss has posted seven top-5 and 19 top-10 finishes. Bliss’ average start at short-tracks is 17.7 with an average finish of 16.1.
Hal Martin, No. 44 American Custom Yacht Camry
Hal Martin is making his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start of the 2014 season this weekend at Iowa Speedway. Martin will be behind the wheel of the No. 44 American Custom Yachts Camry in his first start at the “Fastest Short-Track on the Planet.” Although this is Martin’s inaugural event at the 7/8-mile oval, he has one previous start at the speedway with ASA (American Speed Association) in 2009. In his three short-track starts in the Nationwide Series, Martin has an average start of 27.7 and an average finish of 28.3.
