By: Ashley McCubbin — On Saturday night, Sean Cronan would put together another solid night as he scored his first heat victory of the year before finishing fourth in the feature later that night.
In the opening heat of the night, Sean Cronan would start upfront and in the closing laps after a late caution, he would make the pass on Chris Morrow and beat him at the line by inches to pick up his first heat victory of the season. He would then finish fourth in the “Dash for Cash”.
Per Sunset Speedway’s new qualifying format, Cronan’s starting position was determined virtue of the random Frisbee draw with the fans. Drawing from the pile of Frisbees first, Cronan’s little fan for the night would draw him the seventh starting spot for the feature.
Cronan would start to move up through the pack, moving into the fourth spot by lap 10. However, the outside wasn’t the preferred line after a lap 14 caution, resulting in Cronan sliding back to seventh by lap 20. At lap 22, Cronan would get by rookie Steven Wilson to move into sixth before passing Taylor Holdaway at lap 28 to move into fifth.
Over the second half of the race, Cronan kept himself upfront, passing Mike Bentley with six laps to go to finish in the fourth spot. It marks Cronan’s second top 10 finish of the season following a sixth place finish in the Spring Derby to start the season.
Special thanks to the Lockeroom Sports Bar and Grill, McLaren Equipment, Craighurst Auto Pro, Spira Fire Protection and Fox’s Bakery and Deli for their continued support.
Be sure to join us at Sunset Speedway this Saturday night for Fan Appreciation festivities. Get there early and come down on the race track to meet Sean and get an autograph card.
