NEW HAMBURG, ON- Karting graduate Jerrid Morphy turned in a strong 12th place finish in his first career Canadian Vintage Modified start at Flamboro Speedway on May 17th. Now, the rookie has set his sights on improving his team for Round 2.
“That was some of the most fun I’ve ever had at the speedway”, smiled Morphy. “This club has such fantastic people associated with it, and their drivers are top shelf. Everyone was so willing to help and offer advice. It really was the perfect debut for our team”
Morphy’s car impressed in qualifying, but developed a handling issue early on in the feature event.
“Our team is well aware of the seat time it’s going to take to get a handle on this car”, explained Morphy. “Rome wasn’t built in a day. We’re definitely in this for the long haul, and as long as we’re learning and having fun that’s what’s most important”
“We have some time off before our next event on June 7th, which will give us ample opportunity to turn some more laps in this car”, continued Morphy.
With his first appearance in his rearview, the Rookie of the Year contender is already looking towards Round 2 at Sunset Speedway.
“Racing would be no fun at all if you could come out and be perfect right away. We’re going to work at this, day and night, to make sure we’re ready for Sunset. The Canadian Vintage Modified have some fantastic drivers, I can’t wait to learn more from them”
