Full Throttle Speedway primed for opening night

Over the off-season, one of the historic tracks in Ontario changed hands. Tonight, the fans get to see the fruits of the labor by the new ownership.

Gord Bennett and Full Throttle Marketing purchased Varney Motor Speedway during hte off-season, renaming it Full Throttle Motor Speedway. Over the past couple of weeks, the track has gone through a facelift with fresh paint laid down, new signs posted up and much more to prepare for tonight’s big opening night.

Bennett is opening the night ins style as each class will be given a “Grand Opening” bonus. The open-wheel mods will be $1000 to-win, V8 Thunder Cars will be $600 to-win, Mini Stock will be $300 to-win, Pure Stock will be $200 to-win and Crazy Trains will an extra $25 each.

The idea is to get as many people out on opening night to therefore attract them to come out over the course of the 2014 season. They are also promising more bang for your buck with no heat qualifiers.

“When the (drivers) come in, they’ll draw a pill for starting spot. So, if you have 18 drivers, they’ll draw, line `em up the way they started and have a B Feature. If there are five classes of cars, you’ll have five B Features,” Gord’s father Pete explained per The Post. “After intermission, there is a total inversion of what they drew; so if the guy was on the pole, he’s going to start dead last. They’ll run the A Feature and the pay-off will be a combination of the two races. So, we’re running two good races for the night.”

Bennett is hoping his approach at knowing hte marketing side and the driver side will bring solid racing to the facility that will have both drivers and fans happy with the product over the course of the summer.
