LUCAMA, NC :: Tommy Lemons, Jr. scored his second win of the season on Saturday night at Southern National Motorsports Park after another car was disqualified in post-race technical inspection. The victory breaks a winless streak dating back to March 1st.
Lemons started the 100-lap Late Model feature on the pole. In the opening laps of the race, he surrendered the lead and dropped to second, where he would run for much of the race. A few hours after the second place finish, the driver who crossed the stripe first was stripped of his win, allowing Lemons to inherit his second victory of the 2014 season.
“A win is a win,” Lemons said after the race. “Obviously, I’d rather win races on the track but the way our luck’s been the past few weeks, I’ll take them any way I can get them.”
Entering the race, Lemons was sixth in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series (NWAAS) National Championship standings, fourth in the NWAAS North Carolina State Championship and third in Southern National Motorsports Park’s track championship standings.
Tommy Lemons, Jr. will be back in action on Saturday night, May 31st for twin 100-lap Late Model Stock Car races at Motor Mile Speedway just outside Radford, Virginia.
Lemons is supported by Lemons Backhoe, Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, Kowlasky Racing Engines. For more information on Tommy Lemons, Jr. or the Lemons Motorsports team, check out their website at www.tommylemonsjr.com.
