Friday night we had our Modified out for the opening night of the new Full Throttle Speedway, formerly Varney Speedway. It was cold with a threat of rain for most of the day, but the rain clouds were replaced with blue skies, but still cold and damp. Race cars love cold weather, racecar drivers, not so much.
There were no heats or time trials for qualifying. The format, the first I’ve seen in all my years was a draw for position in the first feature and a reverse start for the second. We ran two twenty lap feature events, an exciting twist for the fans.
There was a driver introduction before the first feature and surprisingly, with the threat of rain and a cold night the fans came out.
We had 2 good races, finishing 4th and 6th and the most important aspect, we loaded the car with not a scratch on it. Our next time at Full Throttle Speedway will be June 6th.
