May 31st Race #7
After a fun day in the sun, music, great food and Quaker State oil changes being done at MacMaster Buick GMC, our team headed to Sunset Speedway where many fans were waiting to watch both Lauren and I race on the very fast and popular Sunset Speedway.
Lauren had another great run in her qualifying races. She battled hard to take 3rd in her heat race, another podium finish for the Rookie stock car driver. Her race was filled with exciting side by side racing and she did more than hold her own.
Lauren had us jumping out of our seats as she continues to amaze with her aggressive and clean hard racing.
Our Late Model didn’t fair quite as good in the huge field of Late Models. Twenty eight very fast and competitive chariots were battling for the 26 spots for the 50 lap feature event.
Our Quaker State Late Model qualified for the 50 Lap Super Series Feature.
One of our awesome sponsors, Lincoln Electric was the sponsor of the night. We surprised the staff and customers of Lincoln Electric by leaving our Modified on display for them to see, prior the VIP area being opened.
One of my crew members, Matt Smith and I headed to the VIP area to sign autographs. I had both my Quaker State and Lincoln Welders fire suits with me. Once at the VIP area we talked to the Sunset Speedway guests and signed our new autograph cards we just got today.
We headed back to the pit area to prepare for our feature race. We ran well, but had to pull off with 9 laps to go, nothing serious, just a decision to park it and stay in one piece.
Lauren ran a hard race in her feature, getting a little caught up when a car spun in front of her. She would finish the race and still hold on to her strong points position, giving her a great opportunity to claim Rookie of the Year honors. There I lots of racing left and we know the main idea is to have fun and race others hard and clean.
