SHAKESPEARE, ON- Fresh off two disappointing mechanical DNFs to start off his 2014 OSCAAR Super Late Model campaign, freshman Corey Jones is headed into Round 3 of the tour at Barrie Speedway with his heart set on a fresh start.
“I’d give anything for a strong run at Barrie”, smiles the likeable Rookie contender. “This season has been a challenge to say the least. I’m proud of all of my guys, for how we’ve been able to pull through this, but at the same time, I’m ready for some good luck”
After battling through engine troubles, Jones is confident the team will be able to put their misfortunes behind them at Barrie.
“Our goal for this weekend is to unload at Barrie and start over”, says Jones. “No amount of strategy could have helped us with our breakdowns at Sunset and Kawartha, so there’s no sense in dwelling on it”
“I’m excited to see how this car performs on a bullring”, continues Jones. “I’ve never even seen Barrie, so we’re flying blind. We’ll have to make the absolute most of our time on-track during practice. Thankfully, Shane Gowan and his guys have been such a huge help to our program, and should be able to point us in the right direction”
With 11 nights remaining on the OSCAAR tour, Jones remains uncompromisingly positive that the 2014 season has more to offer his J Star Motorsports outfit.
“Two bad days at the racetrack does not define our season”, says Jones, “this is just a speedbump. I didn’t think we’d get through our Rookie year without a little bit of adversity, so hopefully we’ve got it all out of the way. This team is one hundred percent committed to our program, we’ve got excellent equipment and some of the best sponsors a guy could ask for. Now, it’s time to go out and put it all together”
