Brooklyn, MI (June 14, 2014)-After posting an 18th-place finish at Dover Int’l Speedway, Jeff Green headed to the Irish Hills of Michigan to compete in Saturday’s Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 250, his second of five races in the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry. Qualifying 27th, Green advanced five positions in the first three laps of the event but quickly began losing the positions gained as his car was extremely loose on entry and exit. After receiving four tires, fuel, and track-bar and air-pressure adjustments during a round of green flag pit stops on lap 38, the car’s handling on the exit of the turns had greatly improved. Upon returning to the track, Green immediately reported a vibration when driving into the turns. However, he remained on track and was able to advance one position to 26th by the halfway point in the race. Three laps later the third caution flag waved for debris. This allowed Green to once again bring the car to pit road on lap 69 for adjustments, and when the race resumed, the team was scored in the 25th position. As the laps began winding down, the car’s handling improved allowing Green to run some of his fastest laps of the race. The team took a gamble during the lap 80 caution and remained on track to take the wave around, which placed them back on the lead lap. However, this gamble didn’t pay off and the team was forced to make a green flag pit stop on lap 111 for fuel only. In the end, Green crossed the finish line in the 23rd position.
Jeff Green Quotes:
“Our finish at Michigan wasn’t what we were hoping for but I think we were able to learn some things that will make us all better for the future. I again appreciate the opportunity that Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap®, TriStar, and Team McClure have given me this year and I look forward to my next race at Mid-Ohio in August.”
