BARRIE, Ont. – On Saturday night at Barrie Speedway, Tyler Hawn would make his 2014 OSCAAR Super Late Model season debut. The night didn’t go as hoped, though, as Hawn would fight handling issues on his way to finishing 10th in the 50-lap feature.
Hawn kicked off the night by finishing fifth in both of his heats to set him up to start ninth in the 50-lap feature. On the drop of the green flag, Hawn would fall back to the 10th spot after being passed by Rudy Oppersma as the field began to stretch itself out.
As the laps continued to click away, the handling issues became more apparent as Hawn continued to fall back, falling a lap down to the leaders at the halfway mark. The handling issues continued to grow as the laps ticked away and eventually at lap 38, Hawn would pull behind the wall and retire for the evening.
Hawn commented post-race that beyond issues with the handling, it was ultimately an issue with the shifter that resulted in the DNF. Hawn added that his Hawn Motorsports team knows that they have work to do heading into the next event for the tour at Sunset Speedway in two weeks.
