John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300: Kentucky Speedway
Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Racing NOTES:
McClure Heads to Bluegrass State: Eric McClure will compete in his 239th-career Nationwide Series start and his 11th at Kentucky Speedway. In 10 starts, he has competed 85.4% of the total laps attempted and has an average finish of 28.4. He posted his track-best finish (22nd) during the second event at the speedway in 2012. Since then he’s posted 23 rd and 24th-place finishes.
Chassis No. 677: Crew Chief Wes Ward has selected chassis No. 677 for this weekend’s event. It was last run by McClure’s teammate Jeff Green at Michigan Int’l Speedway. The team finished 23rd at the two-mile speedway.
One-Day Test Session: Prior to Friday night’s John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300, teams will take to the 1.5-mile track for a one-day test session. This will allow the teams to not only work on their set-ups for Friday night’s 300-mile race; it will also help them work on their intermediate track program.
Fun Factoid about McClure: Did you know that McClure is musically talented? He began playing the piano at the age of 10. He progressed quickly and was playing classics from the world’s most renowned composers at age 11; he also won three competitions. In addition to the piano, McClure also started playing the saxophone at age 10. Although he stopped playing the piano at age 13, when it started interfering with sports, he continued playing the saxophone through high school.
Eric McClure Quote:
“I’m excited to get back to Kentucky. We have struggled in the past two intermediate races this season, but have run well at the last three events at Kentucky, even though the circumstances hurt what could’ve been excellent finishes in each. We are close to getting back to where we should be and I’m hopeful we can take another step this week.”
Tune-In: Friday night’s John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300 will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 7:00pm (ET). PRN and Sirius Channel 90 will also broadcast the event live.
