SAUBLE BEACH – Throughout the day, Sean Cronan and team worked hard to try and figure out the right package to get around Sauble Speedway well. Combined with fighting handling issues and starting in the middle of the field in the feature, Sean Cronan would leave Sauble Speedway with an 11th place feature finish.
With the weather in the area, Sauble Speedway officials made the decision to only run one set of heats to therefore get the night in accordingly. Cronan wouldn’t draw a good starting spot for the heat, starting mid-pack with some of Sauble’s strongest competitors. Cronan battled hard the entire 15-lap heat, en route to finishing fourth.
As a result with the single-heat format, Cronan would start the feature in the 15th spot. Though by the first caution at lap 11 for Paul Maltese going for a spin, Cronan had dropped back a spot to 16th in the midst of a battle with some fellow Sunset Speedway drivers.
Once the race got back to green, Cronan continued to battle hard on the single-groove flat track, moving into the 14th spot as of the halfway mark. He would then make the pass on Brittney Gresel at lap 35 to move into the 13th spot. The caution would fly seven laps later for Jason Witty’s motor blowing up, bumping Cronan up to 12th.
The race would be called shortly after due to rain falling, resulting in Cronan crossing the checkered flag in 12th. However, he would be credited with an 11th place finish as a result of a driver failing post-race technical inspection.
