Our team made the journey to Full Throttle Speedway on Friday night. The weather was awesome, bringing a good crowd to watch the four classes of racing as well as the spectator participation race, “King of the Hill”.
The promoters of Full Throttle have been working hard to get the track in great shape, and are slowly increasing car count in all classes just by the positive feedback from the race teams that travel to race here each Friday. We arrived early and got the car prepared for both 20 lap feature events. One of the attractions of the night was this wild PT Cruiser, driven by Mike Kunz, known as “Nitro Mike”, www.nitromike.com. Visit his site to see some of his videos. I had the great pleasure to race with Bill Burrow and Rick Schurr, son of my racing hero when I was a kid, in the red car in front of me. The vintage Modifieds join us for some of the races. It was a historic night for me, because I watched Bill Burrows #65 race in the mid 60’s. Now 46 years into my own career, I got to race with this legend and it was fun. We had a good night finishing 5th and 7th in the 2 feature events.
Our next race is July 26th at Sauble Speedway for the prestigious Rick Woolner Memorial.
Our Late Model race was rained out on Saturday at Sunset Speedway, but we have some shows and racing lined up for our Late Model next week. We will be doing a promotion right on Sauble Beach on Tuesday night July 29th, to promote the Dash for Cash on Wednesday night at Sauble Speedway, and during the day Wednesday we are at the Quaker State Quik Lube in Owen Sound.
I will have the Quaker State Impala at the Motor Racing Camp from August 18th to the 22nd. We have been blessed to get seven children sponsored. Timber Green Landscaping, Uptown Sports, MacMaster Buick GMC and Ideal Supply have contributed generously in order to help some youngsters make it to the racing camp. We are still looking for sponsors; email me a reply if you would like to help a child enjoy a week at Sunset Speedway for this event.
