The #86 Miknar Machine team of Billy and Ken were the only car in the Spira Racing stable that headed north to Sauble Speedway for the annual, mid week, Dash for Cash event. Upon arrival, they hooked up with Billy’s brother Rick, who had brought his #72, “Hope for a Cancer Cure” car. Rick parked beside the #86 as he was looking for a few tips from Billy and Ken as the duo had won the last four races at the speedway. Billy’s car was pretty good with just minor air pressure adjustments required to get it handling as it did on previous nights, so with the car ready do go, Billy stepped into his brothers car for a practice session to provide feedback. After dialing the #72 car in, Billy gave big brother Rick detailed instructions on how to turn through the corners, however during the last practice, Rick over thought the instructions and spun out. With both cars ready to go, the two brothers attended the drivers meeting before lining up for the two 10 lap heat races that would determine the starting order of the 30 lap feature. Billy started 2nd in his first heat and after some great side by side racing for the lead, moved ahead for the win. Starting 5th in his second heat, with the #51 upfront, Billy would have to work hard to get to the front in just 10 laps. The #51 comfortably pulled ahead of the pack up front as Billy made his way through traffic and then after catching the #51 on the last lap, dove into the final corner where he got a run on the inside of the #51 and it was the #86 that won the drag race to the checkered flag for his second win of the night. Billy lined up 3rd for the 30 lap feature as his big brother lined up 12th. The first five laps were side by side racing for the lead as Billy got beside the #51, however it was the #51 who moved into the lead before they were brought back together on lap six, due to a caution. After the restart, seven more laps were run side by side between the #51 and #86 before the caution returned. Billy restarted on the outside of the #51 with a very fast #36 sitting in third, waiting for his turn out front. At the halfway mark, Billy took over up front with the #51 and #36 on his tail. The #36 took over 2nd before the caution returned with ten laps remaining, putting him on the outside of Billy for the restart. The #36 got the jump at the green flag, putting Billy 2nd and the #51 3rd with nine laps remaining. With eight laps remaining, Billy got on the inside of the #36 to take over the lead and the #51 followed him, putting the #36 3rd. Billy maintained the position up front for the win followed closely by the #51 and #36. Billy’s brother Rick, had a good night as he would have a good seat to watch his brother win and finished 8th. The race was one of the hardest fought battles and most fun that Billy has been in this season and many thanks go out to Joe at Miknar Machine, where Billy is employed, as if it was not for his flexibility with Billy’s hours of work, he would not have been able to run the midweek special.
