INNISFIL, Ontario – Saturday night would unfortunately not go as Brian Love would’ve hoped as he would post a DNF as a result of a late race incident.
Love started off the night by finishing sixth in his heat, forcing him to run the consolation race to qualify for the feature. That would go solidly, as Love posted a sixth place finish to qualify for the 25-lap event.
The redraw for position would go great for Love as he would draw the fourth place starting spot. Love would run hard and keep himself in contention, though would be back to the 11th spot by the first caution at lap 14 for Phil Givens going for around. There’d be a second caution a lap later for an incident behind him. On the restart from that caution, the battle heavily ragged on throughout the field, with drivers running two, three-wide for each position. Things would get tight as contact would happen between Love and Kendra Adams in turn four, resulting in Love getting into the grass. Love would then pull off the track, down for the night. Speedway officials would credit him with a 23rd place finish.
