NASCAR has announced that Carl Long and the No. 23 of Rick Ware Racing have beenĀ penalized for a rules infraction that occurred during practice on August 1st at Iowa Speedway. Crew chief Jamse Bell was fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until December 31st.
The infraction was a P3 penalty and violated section 12-1 (Action detrimental to stock car racing) and 12A-2.3A (Any weight added to the car must be bolted inside the body shell in an approved weight container and in a position acceptable to NASCAR officials: Weight was not properly attached and fell out during the event).
Carl Long finished 32nd in the U.S. Cellular 250 on Saturday night at Iowa Speedway.
