MONROE, Wash. – Brandon McReynolds was the 13th of 19 cars to qualify for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at Evergreen Speedway, but he was number one when it was all said and done.
The NASCAR Next driver scored his second career series Coors Light Pole Award and second of the season in NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 qualifying at Evergreen on Saturday. McReynolds, from Mooresville, North Carolina, turned in a fast lap of 23.544 seconds (97.859 mph). The 23-year-old was also quick in the two practice sessions earlier in the day.
Series points leader Greg Pursley, fastest in both practice sessions, was second-quick in qualifying with a time of 23.565 seconds (97.772), followed by David Mayhew at 23.699 seconds (97.219), 2013 event winner Dylan Lupton (23.747 seconds / 97.023) and rookie Gracin Raz (23.791 seconds / 96.843 mph).
Local driver Tyler Tanner, from nearby Auburn, Washington, qualified sixth, followed by James Bickford, Giles Thornton, Thomas Martin and Nicole Behar completed the top 10.
Green flag for the NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 is scheduled for approximately 6 p.m. PT.
