A high threat of rain entered the region as half the Spira/Dominion Sure Seal team readied for Saturdays racing events at Sauble and Flamboro Speedways. Jake planned to attend a regular night of racing at Flamboro Speedway as the mini-stocks would not be running at Sunset Speedway and Billy would continue his attendance at Sauble Speedway as the current points leader. Scott and Sam would not be racing this weekend as Scott was on vacation in North Carolina and Samantha would spend the downtime from the Sunset points series, to make repairs to the car from the previous weeks contact with the #48.
Prior to departure, the team received word that both Speedways had cancelled their
events due to rain. Sauble Speedway was cancelled for the weekend, however Flamboro Speedway was rescheduled for the following day, so Jake would be the only team member racing on the weekend.
Jake and the #88 represented the Spira/Lucas Oil Team at the annual Mopar Fest in New Hamburg on Friday and Saturday before departing to Flamboro Speedway on Sunday morning for the rescheduled event from Saturday night.
An earlier start time had the team at the track by 11:00am, where they would have some work to do setting up the car that has been running at Sunset Speedway all season. The car was very loose in the first practice session and after making adjustments with spring rubbers, picked up a push condition in the second practice. The crew made a change to the sway bar to eliminate the push and Jake lined up in the second starting position for the first of two heat races. After only running two laps, the right front tire lost pressure and Jake was forced to pull off the track. With the tire changed, the #88 lined up to start 3rd in the 2nd heat race and although the handling was much better, the motor had a lack of horsepower and Jake would fall back to finish 6th.
The Process Group Ford lined up 8th to start the feature and although the car handled fairly well, it was the obvious lack of horsepower that caused Jake to fall back to 10th where he ran throughout the caution free event to finish in the same position.
