Bristol Motor Speedway’s Food City 500 moved to April in 2015

Bristol Motor Speedway announced on Friday that the Food City 500 will be moved to mid-April in 2015, with the race scheduled for April 19th.

“This is a great day in the history of Bristol Motor Speedway thanks to our passionate fans,” Jerry Caldwell, BMS general manager and executive vice president, said. “Bruton and Marcus Smith and NASCAR heard the relentless plea for a true spring race date. The fans can look forward to a 2015 landmark celebration April 17-19 in Thunder Valley.”

The race has been held in March since 2005, but fans requested a later date due to the wet weather and cool temperatures that hit Bristol, Tennessee during that time of year. With renewing their sponsorship of the event, Food City becomes the second longest running sponsor in NASCAR.

“We are thrilled NASCAR, Mike Helton and Bruton Smith responded to the race fans,” K-VA-T President and CEO Steve Smith said. “Bristol is a special place. The April date better accommodates our guests traveling in their RVs from northern climates and provides our loyal Bristol fans with the best possible Food City 500 experience. We can’t wait for April 2015!”

BMS also announced that tickets for the 2015 April race are available now and can be purchased at BristolTix.com, or by calling (855) 580-5525.
