(Mooresville, NC – August 26, 2014) Kenny Mathews set out for a goal last weekend and that was to raise awareness for a cause so close to his heart, Epilepsy. Having been diagnosed with Epilepsy at a young age and then overcoming it and being medication-free, Mathews couldn’t have thought of a better way to bring light to the disease then by partnering up with the Epilepsy Foundation of America last weekend at Madison Int’l Speedway.
Mathews, who made his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut driving Kimmel Racing’s #69 Ford Fusion, mentioned, “I can’t thank Bill Kimmel and Kimmel Racing enough for this opportunity. Their help and support was very appreciated and I was finally able to make my first steps into the ARCA Racing Series, while raising awareness for Epilepsy and the foundation.”
“The support and encouragement from the Epilepsy community has been overwhelming. I’ve received so many stories of loss, continuing struggle and victory. It has all been put into perspective how vast our battle against Epilepsy truly is.”
The plan to start the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200 at Madison Int’l Speedway came together at a short notice. Mathews was only given a chance to make 10 laps duringSaturday’s practice session until rain ended the rest of the field’s day early, cancelling qualifying as well.
Mathews said, “I’m glad I was given a chance to make a few laps at Madison and start to get comfortable in the ARCA cars. As we continue to work with the Epilepsy Foundation, I’m sure there will be more starts to come!”
