Last Thursday night, Spencer Lewis Promotions put together a huge event that saw fans, sponsors and fellow drivers donating money to go towards the final payout, and bonus fund. In total, 53 drivers showed up to try and take home some of the prize money. Though in the end, it was one driver that shined above the rest.
Andy Kamrath would score the victory in heat to be the top qualifier, starting on pole for the 50 lap feature. He would then lead all 50 laps en route to scoring the victory in the Frequent Flyer 50 presented by SL Promotions.
“It was a pretty awesome show,” Kamrath commented this past weekend. “Spencer Lewis did a good job with it and we walked out with about $2200 bucks so not bad of a night.”
It marked the fourth big event win this year for the driver of the No. 35 Jason Witty of Remax AllStars, Blue Mountain Honda of Collingwood, Imagewraps.Ca, JF Kitching & Son Ltd., CB Services, AM Roofing Solutions, London Recreational Honda Civic. Kamrath picked up the victory in Sunset Speedway’s Spring Derby 35 back in May, followed by sweeping both rounds of the Mini Stock Nationals at Kawartha Speedway.
“Pretty good,” he said. “We’ve made money racing this year, which is pretty awesome; not many people can say that. The car is working pretty good. The division is pretty stout as it is right now.”
Kamrath will hope to keep up the winning ways this weekend at Sunset Speedway as part of Sunset’s year end Velocity 250. At the end of the 35 lap feature, look for Kamrath’s Civic to be near the front, if not leading.
“We’re going to go back to the same thing that we had the last time,” he commented. “I guess we have a bit of a new rule package. Some people started whining a little bit, but we will bring lots of beer and have a good run.”
Kamrath also plans to run the Autumn Colors Classic at Peterborough Speedway, hoping to break through at the event that has seen him come close at many times in the late model but fall short.
