Phoenix International Raceway President Bryan R. Sperber announced today that DAV (Disabled American Veterans) will be recognized as the title sponsor of the track’s November NASCAR Nationwide Series race. The DAV 200 – Honoring America’s Veterans will be the featured event on the third day of PIR’s Veterans Day race weekend.
The DAV 200 – Honoring America’s Veterans will be the semifinal race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule. With the Nationwide Series title on the line, the green flag will drop at 5 p.m. EST/ 2 p.m. MST on Saturday, November 9.
“We are proud to welcome DAV to Phoenix International Raceway and recognize the service and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes through this Nationwide Series event,” said Sperber. “With our fall race weekend traditionally landing on Veterans Day Weekend, it made perfect sense to team up with DAV, our nation’s most established, premiere veterans service organization, to honor the men and women who have served our country, their families and survivors.”
“DAV is thrilled to have been offered this unique partnership with Phoenix International Raceway,” said DAV CEO and National Adjutant Marc Burgess. “This is a very special weekend. Patriotic NASCAR fans attending this semi-final event will also get a chance to thank the men and women whose service has made the American Dream possible.”
DAV’s National Commander, Ron Hope, said this race weekend is a fitting addition to the many events across the country that remember America’s fallen, wounded, ill or injured.
“This is the time of year our country pauses to reflect on those who ensured we enjoy the freedoms we sometimes take for granted,” said Hope. “This event, in addition to the excitement of attendance for a semi-final event, will make veterans aware of the free services available to them and educate the public on volunteer opportunities and other ways they can say ‘thanks’ to those who served.”
