Verizon IndyCar Series driver Helio Castroneves and his significant other Adriana Henao will exchange roles this weekend when Henao competes in the 2014 TCS NYC Marathon on Nov. 2.
Castroneves, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, will cheer on Henao as she competes in her first ever marathon in support of Sean Penn’s J/P HRO (Haitian Relief Organization) charity and the Long Run to Haiti.
“I always admired that from Helio, being able to be so focused and working so hard for something,” Henao said. “I tend to start things and then go to another thing without finishing it. I kind of envied him, doing something all day and focusing on it. That happened to me with running.”
To date, Henao has raised nearly $15,000 in donations to support J/P HRO and their ongoing efforts to save lives and build sustainable programs with the people of Haiti as they continue their recovery from the devastating earthquake of 2010.
“We are thrilled and feel very fortunate to have Teri Hatcher and Adriana Henao join our Haitian runners to lead our talented team to success at this year’s marathon,” said Penn, Founder and CEO of J/P HRO. “By starting a J/P HRO tradition of competing in one of the world’s premier sporting events, we hope it underscores the true essence of Haitian perseverance and inspires others to join us in supporting the rebuilding of Haiti.”
