$10,000 in cash and prizes on the line in fan-voted contest!
TORONTO, ON // DECEMBER 1, 2014 • During the inaugural Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo, Vintage Auto Insurance will unveil the winner of its 2014 Vintage Auto Championship Series. The Motorama show takes place March 13, 14 & 15, 2015 at the International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson Airport.
The Vintage Auto Championship Series is a competition comprised of 14 ‘Best of Show’ cars that were determined at a series of prominent car shows and cruise events throughout southern Ontario during the summer of 2014. Two additional ‘wild card’ entries will be added to the mix, creating the final ‘Sweet 16’ list of eligible championship contenders.
An online vote being conducted at VintageAutoInsurance.ca will whittle the list down to two finalists. Both of these cars will be on display in the Vintage Auto Insurance booth at Motorama, and the overall champion will be announced live on theJohnsonville Stage during the show.
“The Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo is a perfect tie-in with Vintage Auto Insurance; they were meant to be together,” proclaimed Jason Wilson of the Lindsay, Ontario-based insurance broker. Vintage Auto Insurance was initially created with the sole purpose of providing insurance protection to the antique, classic, hot rod and custom car markets. Since Vintage Auto Insurance was introduced by Reeds Insurance, the program has come to bill itself as ‘the number one 100% Canadian Collector Car broker.’
“A lot of insurance companies have adopted the rule of thumb that if a car is 20 or more years old, they don’t want to underwrite it,” explained Wilson. “For us, a vehicle has to be at least that old before we even get interested!”
Wilson continued, “The Championship Series is our way of giving back to the hobby. It only makes sense that the premier custom car tournament in the country would want to be a part of Canada’s premier indoor custom car show. It was hard enough to pick the final ‘Sweet 16,’” laughed Wilson. “To choose the new champion will be even more difficult. All we know is, the person who walks away with the champion’s portion of the $10,000 purse, will certainly have earned it!”
Discussing his company’s booth and participation at the show, Wilson said, “The Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo is an ideal avenue for us to reach our target custom car demographic. It presents an excellent cross-marketing opportunity because most collector car people are also motorsports fans, and vice versa. It’s pretty obvious that the Motorama show is going to be the ultimate place for both hobbies to intersect.”
Speaking on behalf of Motorama, the show’s Mike Galipeau said, “We’ve been to many custom and collector car shows and events throughout the summer and it’s been interesting to watch the excitement build about the Vintage Auto Insurance Championship Series. It’s an achievement to make the ‘Sweet 16’ and we’re excited that the overall champion will be unveiled at Motorama.”
The identities of the finalists will be revealed in the coming months, along with details about the time of the championship announcement at Motorama.
