ST: United Late Model’s of Ontario Tour presented by APC set to launch in 2015

#Beentoolong was a hashtag that Ontario Late Model fans were seeing throughout late October and early November, with details set to come as to the meaning. The rumors that were attached to it sounded promising, and had everybody on edge.

The information that everybody has been waiting for – is available.

A team highlighted by Luke Ramsay of APC Parts is set to launch the United Late Model’s of Ontario Tour presented by APC in 2015. ULMOT was launched to combined all the late model divisions across the province – 602, 603 and 604 Late Models – and allowing them to race against each other in a tour crossing the province. It marks the first tour of its kind to launch in awhile, since the closing of the ALSTAR series – hence #beentoolong.

The series held a rules meeting at the end of November, allowing competitors first glance at the rules package that will accompany the series, that will be teched by Delaware Speedway technical inspector Darryl Timmersmans. Set for a tentative nine race schedule featuring five tracks across Ontario, with rumors of a trip to Cayuga Speedway in August if the facility is ready.

Per series officials, each feature will have 24 cars (at 1/3 mile tracks) and 28 cars (tracks larger than 1/3 mile) with the line-up based on time trials followed by a pill inversion featuring the top 1o starts. They added that each race will be a four tire, 100 lap race with tires compounded until one hour before race time to prevent tire soaking. Each feature winner will be paid $1850, with the point’s champion winning $7000.

So far, a bunch of drivers have expressed interest in the tour already in the early stages, and its shaping up to something that could change the scope of Late Model competition next season.
