The United Late Models of Ontario Tour Presented by APC Auto Parts will be hosting an information panel on Sunday March 15th at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show. The show takes place from March 13th to 15th at the International Center in Toronto, Ontario and will feature some of the top individuals in both the car enthusiast and motorsports industry.
The tour will host a panel on the stage, featuring series leaders and drivers. They will also have drivers on hand at the series’ booth throughout the weekend, signing autographs and talking to fans.
Mike Bentley is the first confirmed attendee, and will be at the booth from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday March 15th. Bentley is a two-time winner of the Autumn Colors Classic, two-time winner of the Garry Reynolds Memorial and has won Sunset Speedway’s year end Velocity 250 invitational, as well as Sunset Speedway’s track championship in 2013.
Set to debut this season, the series will be lead by Luke Ramsay of APC Auto Parts as they look to combine all the late model divisions across the province – 602, 603 and 604 Late Models – and allowing them to race against each other in a tour crossing the province. It marks the first tour of its kind to launch in awhile, since the closing of the ALSTAR series. A schedule has been set with nine races in total, featuring five tracks across Ontario. Per series officials, each feature will have 24 cars (at 1/3 mile tracks) and 28 cars (tracks larger than 1/3 mile) with the line-up based on time trials followed by a pill inversion featuring the top 1o starts. They added that each race will be a four tire, 100 lap race with tires compounded until one hour before race time to prevent tire soaking. Each feature winner will be paid $1850, with the point’s champion winning $7000.
Since the announcement of the tour, over 30 drivers have signed to be part of the series’ inaugural season, featuring many past champions and Late Model veterans. The series kicks off with their first event of the season on Saturday May 23rd at Sunset International Speedway in Innisfil, Ontario.
