Statesville, N.C. (March 20, 2015) GMS Racing, operating at 310 Aviation Drive adjacent to the Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, N.C., is being officially welcomed to the area by the Statesville Regional Development group on Tuesday, March 24th. A continental breakfast will be served beginning at 8:45 am E.T. with the ceremony to start at 9 am E.T.
Before the 2015 season, GMS Racing relocated to the 150,000 plus square-foot, three building complex, where they occupy a 51,000 square foot race shop just south of downtown Statesville. The facility is home to GMS Racing’s No. 23 and No. 33 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) teams and their No. 23 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards (ARCA) program. For the first time in its existence, GMS Racing will operate two full-time NCWTS teams and an ARCA Racing Series program. The organization’s relocation into the Statesville facility from Charlotte is vital to develop GMS Racing into a championship-caliber team in professional motorsports circuits.
GMS Racing wants to play a significant role in helping to grow Statesville, and will soon be joined on Aviation Drive by Brad Keselowski Racing (BKR) at the Statesville Regional Airport. In partnering with the Statesville Regional Development group, GMS Racing’s relocation contributes to Statesville’s growth by adding to the motorsports environment in the area. GMS Racing’s main building sits adjacent to two additional buildings, also owned by the organization, that are currently available for rent which feature prime location and suitable layouts for motorsport operations.
“Our new location in Statesville, N.C. is an incredible asset to all facets of GMS Racing” Team Manager Nic Moncher said. “The area is developing into a hotbed for motorsports organizations, and as a growing team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, we intend to work hand in hand with the community of Statesville. Upgrading to this quality of a facility and location only helps to further our team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the ARCA Racing Series.”
A schedule comprised of 23 NCWTS and 20 ARCA events presents many logistical challenges with equipment and personnel traveling across the country. The Statesville headquarters offers GMS Racing convenient proximity to the Statesville Regional Airport, which meets most of those challenges. GMS Racing utilizes the airport on a week to week basis for travel to and from race events via Champion Air, allowing for efficient and organized travel.
“Not only is the infrastructure of our building an upgrade, but GMS Racing’s proximity to Statesville Regional Airport is a benefit to all of our employees” Moncher said. “The convenience of having our travel hub at our door step allows our race teams to be more efficient during the week and more prepared for race weekends. We are looking forward to realizing the fruits of our relocation through the 2015 season and beyond.”
