The weekend kicked off with hot laps and qualifying for the SECA series where Coulter was the fastest Crate car at the track that night. It was a relatively easy night for the driver who returned on Saturday night to race not one but two feature races.
Saturday night’s events kicked off with hot laps for both series that Coulter competed in that night. His qualifying effort on Friday night put him on the pole for the SECA series event. He drew a four car inversion during the drivers meeting that would put Coulter back to the fourth position for the drop of the flag.
The high side was difficult to pass on at the newly resurfaced Carolina Speedway. Coulter fell back as far as seventh on two of the restarts throughout the 30 lap event. With the help of two consecutive restarts, he took the checkered flag in third place.
Coulter qualified third for his first Carolina Clash Super Late Model race of the season. The 40 lap feature was cut short for Coulter when his car developed right rear axle problems on a restart. His crew was able to repair the axle quickly, and he was able to rejoin the field only a few laps down.
“This weekend was a huge step forward for the newly formed Rum Runner Racing. We have been working hard over the past couple years making our dirt racing program as successful as anything that we have raced on pavement with Coulter Motorsports. Saturday night put us one step closer.”
Both cars showed a lot of speed and consistency during the entire night and handled every change the track went through well. The Crate car was extremely competitive, and the Super was the most competitive it has ever been despite the axle problem. I am very excited to get to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, TN) April 4th to race with the Clash Series again,” said Coulter.
