China Grove, N.C. (April 14th, 2015) – Virginia based driver Brandon Gdovic made his successful NASCAR Xfinity Series debut under the lights Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway. Gdovic was behind the wheel of the #55 WindStax™ Wind Power Systems Chevrolet Camaro for Viva Motorsports.
Throughout the course of practice, Brandon Gdovic would get acclimated to his new machine, and with every lap would increase his comfort zone and pace to the point that his fastest practice lap of the weekend was his last, which put him in the 23rd position out of 40 in the final practice standingson Thursday afternoon. Qualifying would take place on Friday, just a few hours before the start of the race, so Brandon had to jump in and be ready from the get go. Gdovic did just that, and for a time held the final spot to make it the second round when bumped late in the session. In the end, the #55 WindStax™ Wind Power Systems Camaro would settle into the 29th starting position for the race itself.
With the natural nerves related to making a first race debut in such a premier series, especially at a circuit known to be NASCAR’s fastest, Gdovic was calm with the knowledge that the Precision Performance Training Program had prepared him well for this natural next step in his career. Not only was he prepared and up to the task, but Brandon found himself quickly up to the 25th position against some of the top competition NASCAR has to offer. Throughout the course of the race Gdovic would run between 25th and 30th, and would come across the checker in 26th position due to an untimely caution after a green flag pit stop. It turned out to be a great debut for an up-and-coming driver, and a good points day for Viva Motorsports.
Gdovic commented on his debut, “I had a great time working with the Viva Motorsports team this past weekend, and very much appreciate the opportunity to drive in the Xfinity Series with WindStax™ Wind Power Systems and Viva Auto Group on board. It was a big learning curve and although I know my lack of experience may have hindered our performance a bit, I learned a lot throughout the race and by the end was running a strong pace. Overall it was a great weekend, I enjoyed Texas Motor Speedway, the Viva Motorsports guys gave me a great car, and can’t wait to step behind the wheel again for them in the future!”
