Richard Childress, CEO and Chairman of Richard Childress Racing, was elected as the Second-Vice President of the National Rifle Association during its annual meetings in Nashville, Tenn. this past weekend.
Childress has already been a two-term member of the NRA Board of Directors and also serves as the Chairman of the Hunting and Wildlife Conservation Committee for the organization. He has held that position since 2010.
His two-year term is effectively immediately.
“I am both honored and humbled by my election to the Second-Vice President position by my fellow NRA Board Members,” Childress said. “We have more than five million members of the NRA and I am going to give it my all to serve them well.
“Protecting the Second Amendment for the right to keep and bear arms is one of the most important ones in our Constitution. I am very proud as an American and member of the NRA to take on this key leadership position.
Childress served six years on the Board of Directors of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation and remains as an Honorary Board Member. He is also currently on the Board of the Boone & Crockett Club and is a member of the newly-formed Blue Ribbon Panel for Wildlife Conservation.
