After starting on the pole, Matt Bentley wouldn’t look back as he led all 50 laps en route to scoring the victory in the Spring Hoosier Velocity St. Onge Recreation Super Stock feature at Sunset Speedway.
Bentley started off the day by winning the first heat ahead of Ken Grubb, Chad Eden, Chris Howse, Joe Adams, Andrew Robertson and Nick Hamill.
Lane Zardo won the second heat ahead of Adam Martin, Gord Shepherd, Coltin Everingham and Phil Allard.
Sauble Speedway regular Joe Adams won the third heat ahead of Bentley, Eden, Grubb, Howse and Robertson.
Lane Zardo won the fourth heat for the sweep ahead of Shepherd, Todd Davenport, Martin, Everingham and Allard.
Come feature time, it’d be Gord Shepherd starting on pole ahead of Matt Bentley, Lane Zardo, Ken Grubb, Chad Eden, Adam Martin, Joe Adams, Chris Howse, Coltin Everingham, Todd Davenport, Phil Allard, Andrew Robertson and Nick Hamill.
The start was a little messy with Shepherd and Martin not quite going, but everybody would get away with Bentley taking the early lead. Grubb would move into second on lap two, with Zardo following him through to get the third spot. Shepherd would slip back to fourth ahead of Eden, Adams, Davenport, Howse, Everingham, Robertson, Martin, Allard and Hamill.
Sauble Speedway regular Eden would make his move, getting alongside Shepherd for fourth, completing the pass a lap later as Adams looked to follow through. Adams would complete the pass for fifth at lap 19, before getting alongside Eden for fourth. Adams would then compete the pass to move into fourth at lap 21 ahead of Eden and Shepherd as Howse and Davenport battled for seventh. Howse would grab the spot on lap 26 as Shepherd got alongside Eden for fifth. Shepherd would grab the spot a couple laps later, bumping Eden back to sixth ahead of Howse, Martin, Davenport and Everingham. Everingham would look to continue moving closer to the front, getting alongside Davenport at lap 29, before completing the pass for ninth at lap 31.
At the front of the field, Bentley gapped the field as he continued to lead, lapping cars in the progress, with Grubb and Zardo in toe. Behind them, Shepherd would catch Adams for fourth, completing the pass at lap 40. Meanwhile, Roberston would head down pit road with problems.
Matt Bentley would remain unchallenged as the race ran green start to the finish, with Bentley scoring the dominating victory. Ken Grubb got second, followed by Lane Zardo, Gord Shepherd, Joe Adams, Chad Eden, Chris Howse, Coltin Everingham, Todd Davenport, Phil Allard, Adam Martin, Andrew Roberson and Nick Hamill.
