Driver to Pilot No. 97 Camaro for Obaika Racing
NASHVILLE, TENN. (October 12, 2015) – Mason Mingus will make his second NASCAR XFINITY Series start Saturday at Kansas Speedway, driving the No. 97 VroomBrands Chevrolet Camaro for Obaika Racing.

The driver’s start in the Kansas Lottery 300 will follow a 24th-place finish in his series debut with the team last month at Chicagoland Speedway. The Kansas race takes place on an off week in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, in which Mingus competes full-time for Billy Boat Motorsports.
“I’m really grateful to have another chance to drive the VroomBrands Chevy Camaro,” Mingus said. “I was pretty happy with my first race with Obaika Racing in Chicago, getting a top-25 finish in my first time in an XFINITY car. I learned a ton and I enjoyed working with the guys on the team. I’m excited to get to work with them again and try to top our performance from last time.”
Obaika Racing is in its first season competing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Based in Mooresville, N.C., and led by crew chief John Monsam, the team has fielded multiple drivers in its No. 97 entry in 2015.
The Kansas Lottery 300 will air on the NBC Sports Network with coverage beginning Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
