DARLINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA (Feb. 17, 2016) – Darlington Raceway announced today it received two coveted awards during NASCAR’s Marketing and Communications Reception held February 16, 2016 in Daytona Beach. Dennis Worden was honored as the 2015 Track PR Representative of the Year and the track staff earned top honors as the 2015 Marketing Team of the Year for their ‘Tradition Returns to Darlington Raceway’ campaign.
Darlington Raceway’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 was celebrated with a throwback campaign specific to the early 1970s, including timeless historic moments and drivers that built its foundation.
Recognized as the most viewed Labor Day NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event since 2007, the Bojangles’ Southern 500 incorporated 20 unique stakeholders, 32 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams with throwback paint schemes, all-time high sponsor participation, and integration with NBC and NASCAR Hall of Fame.
