After a successful season that saw her pick up a couple of wins at Ohsweken Speedway, Alex Hill is set to take her program on the road in 2016, traveling across Ontario and the United States with a schedule that includes over 80 places. Compared to seasons in the past where she’s focused on a smaller program, she notes it’s going to be quite a bit different this year.
“I will probably have to watch some videos on YouTube to see what the track are like,” she said at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show. “But I know Darryl (Turford) can tell me how it is, and how each track is different as he’s been to almost every track.”
While she has only been involved in sprint car competition herself since September 2014, her crew chief Darryl Turford has a bunch of experience, both locally and at the World of Outlaws level.
“It’s pretty awesome to have someone with that much experience that can be behind me, and support me, and help with my car, and how to be a better driver,” she commented.
Hill made her move into the Crate Sprint Cars near the end of 2014, while starting to run the 360 Sprint beginning in May of last season. Between the two, she say it’s quite a bit different but she likes driving the 360 sprint more as “they’re more of a challenge, because you’re not racing against a bunch of people that are learning”.
The Six Nation Sensation has already started to garner attention in Ontario with her success, but with taking her talent across the States this summer, it should just cause more eyes to focus in on her as she shows what she can do.
