After a solid season last year, Ray Morneau is set to return to Flat Rock Speedway once again in 2016 as part of their street stock division.
“We’re going to try and run the full season if we have enough sponsorship money,” he stated at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show
Coming off of a solid seventh place finish in points last season, Morneau stated it was solid competition last season, with clean, side-by-side racing all year long.
Morneau made the move up to the Street Stock ranks after getting his start racing scale cars at Grand Bend Speedway.
“It was great thing to do because the show was run great and there was a lot of cars that you could run side-by-side with,” he commented. “It was a great learning experience to get used to bigger cars.”
Out of the cars that he got to race at Grand Bend, he says that the Legends cars were probably the closest to running the street stocks due to having the power to weight ration, and the fact that “you’re sideways the whole time”. He noted that there are a lot of things that you can transfer over to the bigger cars from them.
Living in Winsor, Ontario, Morneau mentioned the possibility of also running some events in Ontario, such as the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway, Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway, Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway, as well as some events at Sauble Speedway and Delaware Speedway.
