For the first time in his young career, Alex Labbe is set to run the full NASCAR Pinty’s Series schedule, racing for Jacombs Racing.
“We’re really looking forward to running full-time for the first time so it should be a fun year,” he said at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show last month. “Pretty confident that we have a good team.”
Over the past three years, Labbe has ran a limited schedule, and having some success along the way. In 15 career starts, the Quebec native has posted two top-fives and four top-10s. Though while he’s been successful, he states that the crew is working hard to be stronger for this season.
“We probably got a bit better on our road racing program as that’s where we lack a bit of speed,” he said. “Our oval program was really strong. We just need to be good each week and week out, and be consistent and have good races because the championship is the goal.”
With four top-10s in six starts last season, Labbe hopes to start off this year strongly, possibly by scoring a victory in the early stages of the seasons. He notes that he really wants to win on a road course, but also knows they’ve been “really strong” on the ovals in his limited of starts. Labbe’s best finish last year was on an oval with a runner-up at Autodrome Chaudiere.
“If we could start the season strongly, it’d be a pretty awesome year,” he commented. “It’d mean a lot to win a road course this year.
