After taking a year off, Sean Cronan will be back behind the wheel this season at Sunset Speedway. Cronan will be running a limited schedule this year, beginning with the first two races of the season – April 30 and May 7.
“Hopefully everything goes good, and we survive,” he said. “I’m happy to be back – but there’s a lot of stiff competition here so have to wait and see how things shake out for us.”
In anticipation for opening weekend, Cronan was at the track on Saturday as part of the track’s “Test & Tune”, shaking down the familiar ride.
“A lot of fun,” he commented. “I didn’t really know what to expect but I’m very happy after today and it felt great. I’ve missed this for awhile now.”
Cronan’s last season behind the wheel in 2014 saw him pick up numerous top-five finishes, highlighted by a victory late in the season. An experienced veteran in the division, he picked up the McColl Racing Enterprises Summer Series Championship in 2011.
Now set to make his return, Cronan isn’t setting any expectations out of the gate as he knows the level of competition that Sunset Speedway has.
“We’ll know opening night what we got compared to everybody else,” he said. “There’s a lot of heavy hitters and are on top of their game. So to set an expectation is rather unfair. I don’t know – we’ll see. we’ll find out soon enough.”
