For the second practice for the Chevrolet Duals in Detroit at Raceway at Belle Isle Park there was six Chevrolets and four Hondas in the top-10. The fastest speed was Josef Newgarden, driver of the No. 21 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet with a time of 1:14.6464.
In second was Scott Dixon, driver of No. 9 Target Chevrolet with a time of 1:14.8319. The fastest Honda went to Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of No. 28 DHL Honda with a time of 1:14.9739.
Rounding out the top-five were Team Penske drivers Simon Pagenaud, driver of the No. 22 Hewlett Packard with a time of 1:14.9979 and Juan Pablo Montoya driver of the No. 2 Verizon Chevrolet with a time of 115:2330.
Sixth through tenth was as follows: Marco Andretti, Conor Daly, Sebastien Bourdais, Helio Castroneves and Graham Rahal.
There were a few incidents during the session, James Hinchcliffe, driver of No. 5 Arrow Electronic Honda, spun in turn 5 and hit the wall with minimal damage. Then Mikhail Aleshin, driver of the No. 7 Schmidt Peterson Honda, continued once again to have issues this session with him spinning three times in Turn 7. He spun once yesterday during practice, as well.
