Kyle Busch is on track for a perfect weekend in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Busch led the two series practices on Friday, and now won the pole for this afternoon’s Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis. If Busch can win his Dash for Cash heat race today, and then the race later on, he’ll have won everything there is for him to win in the XFINITY car this weekend.
Busch won the pole for heat number one with a fast lap of 49.467 seconds, just edging out teammate Erik Jones by two one-thousandths of a second. Jones will lead the field to the green flag in the second heat race.
Rounding out the top-10 were Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Daniel Suarez, Justin Allgaier, Joey Logano, Paul Menard, Ryan Reed and Brennan Poole.
T.J. Bell was the lone DNQ for this afternoon’s race.
Today’s race will be the last of four XFINITY Dash for Cash races this season. It will also be the last time of the year with two 20-lap heat races to determine the starting lineup for the 60-lap main event. In order to win the $100,000 cash bonus, drivers will have to be one of the top-two finishing XFINITY Series points competitors in their heat. The highest finishing of the four eligible Dash for Cash drivers in the race will be $100,000 richer.
Race coverage of the Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis will get underway at 3:30 p.m. ET.
