It was announced on August 16 Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 78 car for Furniture Row Racing, would drive a specially themed paint scheme for the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. It will feature a special 100th anniversary paint scheme with Auto-Owens Insurance.
Auto-Owens Insurance has decided on a retro look for the race car’s livery to keep in the spirit of the throwback concept and will pay tribute to the company’s centennial milestone. Auto-Owen is based out of Lansing Michigan and is the glue that holds local companies together since 1916 when it was founded and is also one of the nations biggest insurers.
“We love the retro theme of the Darlington race and how it celebrates NASCAR’s history,” Mary Pierce, Auto-Owners senior vice president of marketing and sales said. “Auto-Owners really wanted to be part of this race as we celebrate our 100th year in business.”
Along with his car, Truex will also be sporting a retro firesuit. It will be a replica of typical agent attire from 1916 to honor all independent insurance agents.
“Darlington has just become an even more exciting race for our Furniture Row Racing team by having the retro Auto-Owners Insurance paint scheme on our Toyota Camry and also my firesuit,” Truex, who has already clinched a 2016 Chase playoff berth added. “Auto-Owners has put a lot of creative thought in activating its primary sponsorship and we would like nothing more than to reward the 100-year-old company with a victory at one of NASCAR’s most celebrated tracks.”
The paint scheme and firesuit for the Darlington race is just a part of Auto-Owens promotion which is called Fast, Friendly, Local.
